Kathryn (Kate) Dramstad from Helena High – She is the daughter of Brenda Nordlund and Harold Dramstad. Her honors include National Merit semifinalist, National Honor Society and has a 4.0 for all high school years.
Anna Heinitz from Helena High – She is the daughter of Melanie and Steve Heinitz. She is interested in Biology,
Science, Math, Music and Dance. She has a 4.0 GPA for seven semesters in a row and is member of NHS.
Emily Creasia from Capital High – She is the daughter of Frank and Dori Creasia. She is the Student Body President,
member of NHS, delegate at MT Girls State and Founder and President of the Feminist Club. Being the Founder
of the Feminist Club was something that stood out amongst the finalists.

We had our third presentation of the ACE (Accepting the Challenge of Excellence) Award. Bert Gailushas presented the award to Brittney Sizemore of Helena High School.
Brittney was not aware why she was joining us for lunch but when she saw all the family, teachers, counselors and SRO officers present she knew something was up. Teacher Rod Boyer spoke about when he first met Brittney she had attendance problems and how she has really turned her life around and how he is proud of what she has become. He spoke about how she didn’t blame others for her shortcomings.
Counselor, Mary Anderson, spoke of how Brittney has turned her life around and although she has a chronic health condition which caused her to miss over 40 days of school last year she was still able to pass all her classes.
Brittney has been a friend, lifting partner and mentor to Shalaya, who is developmentally disabled. Shalaya spoke about how Brittney has been a good friend to her. Her parents and brothers had good things to say about her.
Her future plans are to become a nurse, special education teacher or go into law enforcement. The club presented her with a $300 gift certificate to Capital Sports.

We had our second presentation of the ACE (Accepting the Challenge of Excellence) Award. Bert Gailushas presented the award to Shawn Joyce of PAL (Project for Alternative Learning) High School. Shawn was not aware why he was joining us for lunch. Principal Don Wood-Foucar, teacher/counselor Marie Rauch and surprise guest John Joyce joined us for the presentation. Shawn overcame a difficult childhood and has risen to the occasion and is now a good role model to the other kids on campus. He was adopted when he was 14 years old. The ACE Award (Accepting the Challenge of Excellence) recognizes High School students who have made a dramatic change in attitude and/or performance in school, or have overcome a great physical or social obstacles, while getting back on track towards a High School Diploma and beyond.

The ACE Award was presented to Lindsey Nickel of Capital High School.
Her Grandparents, friends and counselor, Mrs. Heidi Scanlon, were present. Lindsey lost her mother to breast cancer when she was eight.
Lindsey has many goals and aspirations for herself. She plans to attend Montana State University after graduation and major in Business Marketing. From there, she plans to further her education and obtain a master's degree in Design Marketing and possibly go to France where she can work in the International Marketing Industry.
The club presented her with a gift certificate for $150 to Montana Book Company and a $150 gift card to Wal-Mart.
